Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to prepare patients for exams, collect medical history, and perform preliminary tests, delivering high-quality patient care and experience. You will work within AVP's network of eye care centers, supporting physicians with acuity testing, tonometry, and diagnostics while maintaining clean exam rooms and accurate EHR documentation.

AVP is focused on expanding access to top eye care nationwide.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year experience in ophthalmology preferred.
• COA or COT a plus.
• Detail oriented; able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with a positive, warm disposition.
• Keep doctors’ rooms filled to ensure clinic patient flow.
• Obtain patient histories and record findings in the EHR.
• Perform visual acuity, auto-refraction, manual/automated lensometry, tonometry and keratometry tests.
• Check pupils, extra-ocular muscles, and dilation drops.
• Run Immersion A-scan, OCTs and Visual Fields tests.
• Educate patients on ophthalmic conditions and procedures.
• Maintain and sterilize exam rooms as needed.
