Job description

Ophthalmic Assistant Technician - Ophthalmic Practice

Location: Richmond, VA

Pay: From $19 Per Hour

Must Have:
  • 6+ months of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
  • COA or COT certification preferred
  • Experience performing various ophthalmic exams including slit lamp, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, refractometry
  • Rooming patients and obtaining histories
  • Scribing for providers
  • Assisting with in-office and surgical procedures
  • Handling dilations
  • Experience obtaining pre-authorizations and scheduling appointments
Responsibilities:
  1. Room patients and obtain medical histories
  2. Check patient visual acuity
  3. Handle dilations
  4. Perform ophthalmic exams such as slit lamp, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, and refractometry
  5. Provide photography support
  6. Assist with in-office and surgical procedures
  7. Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications
  8. Set up and clean up after procedures
  9. Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures
  10. Handle scribing duties
  11. Clean and stock rooms
  12. Prepare instruments for sterilization
  13. Obtain authorizations
  14. Handle chart preparation
  15. Schedule appointments
