Qualifications

  • Certification as COA or COT preferred.

Job description

Ophthalmic Technician Assistant - Ophthalmic Practice

Location: Prince George VA

Pay: From $19 Per Hour

Must Have:
  • 6+ months of experience as an Ophthalmic Tech
  • COA or COT preferred
  • Experience performing various ophthalmic exams including slit lamp, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, refractometry
  • Rooming patients and obtaining histories
  • Scribing for providers
  • Assisting with in-office and surgical procedures
  • Handling dilations
  • Experience obtaining pre-authorizations and scheduling appointments
Responsibilities:
  1. Room patients and obtain medical histories
  2. Check patient visual acuity
  3. Perform various exams including slit lamp, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, refractometry
  4. Provide photography support
  5. Assist with in-office and surgical procedures
  6. Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications
  7. Set up and clean up from procedures
  8. Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures
  9. Handle scribing, clean and stock rooms, prepare instruments for sterilization
  10. Obtain authorizations and handle chart preparation
  11. Schedule appointments
