Job summary

Thomas Eye Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmology clinics with patient work-ups, testing, and education. You will collaborate with clinicians to ensure efficient patient flow and accurate EMR documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma (some college preferred) and COA/COT as a plus, with 1–2 years in healthcare and strong typing skills. Medical/optical knowledge is beneficial for refractive and diagnostic procedures.

Qualifications

  • EMR systems experience and patient data management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and team.
  • Punctuality and reliability to support clinic operations.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Typing speed minimum 45 WPM with accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient work-up including acuity tests and measurements.
  • Assist with testing and evaluation such as visual fields and refractions.
  • Greet patients, explain procedures, and educate as needed.
  • Collaborate with clinical team to maintain smooth patient flow.
  • Maintain safety/compliance and accurate documentation in the EMR.
