Job summary

Christie Clinic's Ophthalmology department is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant at the Fields clinic in Champaign, IL. Work Monday through Friday 8:00am–5:00pm with no night or weekend requirements.

Responsibilities include patient check-in, pretesting, updating medical histories, and supporting physicians with exams and minor surgeries in a clinical setting. High school diploma required; ophthalmic experience and CPR are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in Ophthalmic Office Setting.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant.
• CPR Certification.

• Check in patients prior to provider visit.
• Update medical history, check visual acuities and administer eye drops.
• Maintain exam rooms for supplies and cleanliness; ensure cleanliness.
• Oversee sterilization of department instruments with nursing staff.
• Assist provider with minor surgeries scheduled in office.
• Perform specialized testing.
• Review online transcriptions prior to appointments and update during the visit.
• Perform related work as required.

Job Location: Christie at the Fields (LLC) - Champaign, IL 61822, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $23.16 - $31.84 Hourly, Job Shift: 1st Shift, Job Category: Optical, Christie Clinic's department of Ophthalmology is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant at the Fields clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements.

Job Duties

Duties include checking in patients prior to patient seeing provider and performing any pretesting on patient that is needed.

Job Qualifications and Expectations: JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

• Check in patients prior to patient seeing provider.
• Update medical history, check visual acuities and administer eye drops.
• Maintain exam rooms for necessary supplies and material. Ensure cleanliness.
• Oversee the sterilization of department instruments along with nursing staff.

Typical Physical Demands

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

Typical Working Conditions

Work is performed in a clinical setting with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

Pay and Benefits

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
