Position Summary

The Ophthalmic Assistant is a vital member of the eye care team, responsible for assisting providers in the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions. They perform various clinical and technical duties to ensure the efficient delivery of healthcare within an ophthalmology practice. This role is for both Burien and Seattle - First Hill locations, where you will be working side by side with our clinical and surgical team to ensure a seamless transition of care between departments.

Locations: Seattle and Burien

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Escorting patients to exam rooms
  • Reviewing health history and present illness concerns
  • Performing preliminary vision tests and assessments
  • Preparing and assisting with minor procedures or other ophthalmic needs
  • Provide pre-operative and aftercare instructions of minor procedures
  • Triaging patient questions and clinic tasks
  • Stocking supplies and ophthalmic medications
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and OSHA standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare or medical office environment
  • Travel between both Seattle and Burien clinics on assigned days

Experience Requirements

  • One year experience in a customer-facing or healthcare setting
  • One year experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant preferred
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required

Physical Demands

In this role, you need to be able to sit and stand with mobility for long periods, walk or move around throughout your shift, and use your hands, fingers, and arms with dexterity. Effective communication skills, including speaking and hearing, are also essential. This role requires specific vision capabilities, including close and distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
