Job summary

Fillmore Eye Clinic Incorporated in Alamogordo, NM is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to provide chair-side doctor assistance, operate ophthalmic instruments, and perform diagnostic tests as ordered by physicians. The role supports patient flow and education throughout the visit.

You will act as a physician scribe, assist with front-desk paperwork, and ensure rooms are clean and stocked. Two years in healthcare, ophthalmology preferred, and strong computer literacy are expected.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in a healthcare setting, ophthalmology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair-side doctor assistance and perform diagnostic tests as required.

• Call in prescriptions for patients.
• Perform diagnostic tests as ordered by physician.
• Review use of Amsler grid testing with patient for at-home monitoring.
• Review physician instructions with the patient.
• Ensure exam rooms are tidied between patients and at end of day.
• Clean all lenses used by doctors.
• Open rooms, turn on equipment, and stock at start of day.
• Close rooms and dispose of trash at end of day.
