Job summary

Lactalis USA is seeking a forklift operator to support our logistics and production teams. You will operate forklift and other material handling equipment, move raw materials and packaging, and help keep inventory accurate.

The role requires the ability to work overtime on any shift and to participate in ongoing process improvements. Starting on the 2nd shift (2:30pm–10:40pm) with a starting salary of $23.23 per hour plus a $0.50 shift differential, you will be part of a 24/7 plant operation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
• All employees must go through a forklift certification course and drive a forklift.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment to support production and warehouse operations.
• Transport raw materials and packaging to production areas.
• Load and unload trucks and containers and ensure accurate placement in storage.
• Maintain accurate material movements and participate in inventory management.
• Assist in training new employees and participate in process improvements.
• Troubleshoot problems with automated robotic palletizers and collaborate with maintenance.

• Internal candidates must have been in their current role for at least 6 months and have no active CA's within the past 12 months.

What your day will look like:

As a part of our logistics operations team, you will be responsible for operating a forklift and other material handling equipment to support production & warehouse operations.

From your STORY to ours:

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

• Hours: 2nd shift: 2:30pm to 10:40 pm
• Starting salary at $23.23 plus $.50 shift differential. Pay increases occur every 6 months based on employee meeting performance expectations
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
• Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Troubleshoot problems with automated robotic palletizers and partner with maintenance staff resolve issues.
• Transport raw materials & packaging to production areas.
• Load and unload trucks and containers, ensuring accurate placement of products in warehouse storage.
• Maintain accurate material movements & participate in inventory management.
• Assist in training new employees & actively participate in process improvement.

Education:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

Experience

• 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment is required
• All employees must go through a forklift certification course and are required to drive a forklift

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
• Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
• Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
• Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
• Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
• Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
