Job Summary
Operator position responsible for loading, unloading, and storing product while maintaining facilities and equipment. The role requires flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, on‑call support, and 12‑hour rotating shifts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform product loading and unloading functions per operating procedures.
- Maintain operating equipment, buildings, and grounds; inspect equipment, perform mechanical maintenance, and keep all terminal areas clean.
- Understand and apply refrigeration system principles; test, record sample results, and monitor gauge readings.
- Maintain and update manuals, records, and paperwork accurately.
- Comply with all company, environmental, health, and safety training programs.
- Assist with training and development of other operators.
- Coordinate with emergency response personnel and participate in safety discussions.
- Perform hazardous material response and remediation duties in the event of a spill.
- Progress through the Operator Progression Program.
- Complete other duties requested by facility management, including recordkeeping and procedure development.
- Provide assistance during emergency situations at other company locations.
- Participate in capital and maintenance project development and implementation.
- Assume management responsibilities when the facility manager is absent.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent; plus at least two years of college, military/technical training, or related work experience.
- Ability to understand and follow operating procedures.
- Refrigeration knowledge commensurate with position level.
- Good communication skills.
- HAZMAT certification (post‑employment requirement).
- Initiative to exercise independent or team‑oriented action.
- Basic computer skills and capability for data entry and retrieval.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Travel Requirements
- May be required to travel to and work at different facility locations for limited periods.
Working Conditions
- Varied environmental conditions including extreme cold, heat, humidity, wind, rain, snow, and ice.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals with emergency response responsibilities.
- 24‑hour on‑call availability for designated time periods; must be within 30–45‑minute driving proximity to the facility.
- Work on uneven or slippery surfaces and may assume physically awkward positions.
- Occasional climbing to heights of 80–100 ft.
- Use of computer terminals to monitor facility processes during loading.
- Continuous operation environment with 12‑hour rotating shifts; may include nights, holidays, and weekends with little notice.
