Job summary

United States Cold Storage, Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems in a cold‑storage facility. You will troubleshoot complex issues, read diagrams, perform welding, and maintain equipment to minimize downtime.

The role requires 3–5 years of refrigeration experience, journeyman‑level electrical skills, and HazMat readiness. You will work in a fast‑paced environment with safety as a top priority and participate in ongoing

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Tech school graduate in a relevant field preferred.
  • Must work towards achieving a CARO certification if not completed already.
  • 3-5 years of refrigeration experience strongly preferred.
  • Highly skilled in building and equipment maintenance as well as troubleshooting.
  • Proficient electrical and welding knowledge.
  • HAZMAT trained.
  • Skilled in all aspects of refrigeration.
  • Understanding of electrical ladder diagrams.
  • Working independently with limited direction.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability through troubleshooting and timely repair.
  • Maintain professionalism and collaborate with facility leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Diagnose and correct deviations in systems with corrective plans.
  • Understand control system maintenance needs.
  • Complete all Maintenance Technician 1 and 2 tasks and paperwork.
  • Perform maintenance tasks including electrical work, welding, and general upkeep.
  • Independently diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues using root cause analysis.
  • Maintain powered industrial trucks per safety and manufacturer standards.
  • Read schematics and test components to diagnose and improve equipment performance.
  • Execute welding, cutting, and metal fabrication for modifications and repairs.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial refrigeration systems in compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in execution of Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
  • Oversee facility maintenance like dock equipment and plumbing to high standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Understand PFD, P&ID, and safety documentation.
  • Complete HazMat responder training and ongoing coursework.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

Electrical Background on arch flash training, electrical High and low voltage from 24 Volts AC up to 480 Volts, any other electrical training is a Plus, semi-commercial maintenance, be able to read electrical Diagrams. Be familiar with Lockout/tagout “LOTO”.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability through advanced troubleshooting, predictive maintenance strategies, and timely repair of facility systems and equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, fostering strong collaboration with facility leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Understand consequences of deviation of the system and form a plan to correct issues.
  • Understand the control system and its maintenance needs.
  • Can complete all Maintenance Technician 1 and 2 jobs and tasks
  • Including, but not limited to required paperwork, battery maintenance, general housekeeping and maintenance, troubleshooting, electrical work, welding, equipment maintenance, and other preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Independently diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system issues, utilizing root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures.
  • Perform advanced maintenance and repair on powered industrial trucks in facilities where such maintenance is conducted internally, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, operational, and manufacturer standards.
  • Apply advanced electrical knowledge, including reading schematics and testing components, to diagnose, repair, and improve equipment performance.
  • Execute complex welding, cutting, and metal fabrication projects to support equipment modifications, repairs, and facility improvements.
  • Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot industrial refrigeration systems, including performing repairs, monitoring system performance, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in execution of Process Safety Management (PSM) Program
  • Perform and oversee general facility maintenance, including dock equipment, warehouse doors, plumbing systems, and other warehouse systems, ensuring all assets are maintained to a high operational standard.
  • Proactively identify facility and equipment improvement opportunities, recommending solutions that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Understand block flow diagram, Process Safety Management, Risk Management Plan, Standard Operating Procedures, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram.
  • Complete and maintain the necessary training to become a Hazmat responder.
  • Actively participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
