About this position

Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am to 5pm and additional hours during harvest time.

Job Summary:

Loads specialty soy meal into rail containers, trucks, and totes and performs other Elevator duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and prepares container for loading to assure it meets established quality standards.
  • Follow all procedures and policies to meet the requirements of CERT-ID EU non-GMO certification.
  • Verifies product being loaded and container numbers against bill of lading.
  • Loads product into rail containers, totes, or trucks to the proper specifications.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Collects sample of product, labels with identifying information, tests the physical characteristics to determine compliance with customer requirements, and records test results and submits to appropriate personnel for testing.
  • Make simple adjustments or repairs such as realigning belts or replacing rollers.
  • Operates industrial equipment to assist in loading or moving products.
  • Follow all company and regulatory food safety policies and procedures. Reports any potential food safety issues to management.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to containers and completes and maintains records of shipments and product shipped.
  • Inspects equipment for defects and safe operating condition at the end of each day. Report any/all defects or safety issues to maintenance supervisor or other appropriate company officials.
  • Helps support and ensure compliance with company Safety/Environmental/Quality/HR program policies and procedures.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
  • Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School or Equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety.
  • Ability to interpret and verify bills of lading to proper loads and container numbers.
  • Ability to interpret and verify scale tickets, bills of lading, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance habits.
  • Abide by all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb to levels of 125 feet as well as balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • While outside the office, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat or cold temperatures; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
