Red Star Yeast in Headland, AL is seeking a night shift operator to support fermentation production on a 12-hour schedule (6:00 PM–6:00 AM), weekends and holidays as needed. Training will occur primarily on the day shift for the first 2–4 months.
Must be prepared to work either day or night shift and follow safety, CIP, and recordkeeping procedures. The role involves monitoring fermentation equipment, adjusting processes, and maintaining accurate documentation while upholding company policies
This is a night shift operator position. The typical shift schedule is 12 hours, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, including weekends and holidays, working two days on and then two days off. Additional shifts may be required as necessary. Training will primarily (but not exclusively) be on day shift for the first 2-4 months. Must be prepared to work either day or night shift.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required. 3 years of experience in a food grade production facility or process industry preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence if needed. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization or Auditors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to become CPR/First Aid certified.
Ability to become Forklift certified.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
