Job summary

Kinder Morgan, Inc. in Milwaukee is seeking an Operator/Mechanic to operate heavy equipment for bulk material handling, including front-end loaders, forklifts, and sweepers. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment (front-end loaders, forklifts, sweeper, conveyors).
• Knowledge of packaging and palletizing equipment; able to work outdoors in extreme weather.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Team-oriented; able to take direction, meet schedules and follow rules.
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Standard hours are 7:00am–3:30pm with possible 2nd shift; overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Maintain dependable attendance and performance.
• Interact with customers and respond to inquiries.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, OS, etc.).

What We Are Looking For

Operator/Mechanic will operate heavy equipment needed with bulk material handling such as a front-end loader, forklifts, sweeper, skid steer, etc. Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

Job requirements:

• Must have a good mechanical aptitude
• Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as front end loaders, forklifts, sweeper operation and conveyors
• Must have knowledge and experience with packaging and palletizing equipment; must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions majority of the time will be working outside
• The ability to work from written and verbal instructions
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules, as well as take on other duties as assigned
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
• Typical hours for this position are 7:00am to 3:30pm with flexibility to work 2nd shift on occasion.
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
• Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
• Positively interact with customers and respond to customer inquiries
• Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software)

Physical requirements including but are not limited to:

• Able to lift as much as 50 lbs. as high as waist level
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and raise your body weight as high as four feet
• Must not have a fear of water or heights
• The ability to swim is a plus
• Ability to take initiative and work with coworkers to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced environment
• Successful completion of validated testing, background check and drug screen upon offer

Preferred experience, skills and knowledge:

• CDL a plus but not required
