Job summary

Danfoss in Mountain Home, Arkansas is seeking a second-shift Mandrel Bonder to inspect, bond, splice, and prepare mandrels for reel production. You will measure and replace lube cones, replace strings and plastic on reels, and determine the correct mandrel to run.

Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist others as needed. The role emphasizes safety around hot equipment and loud surroundings, with required PPE and adherence to quality guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year manufacturing experience preferred.

The Impact You'll Make

Primary function is to inspect, bond or splice, clean, lubricate, and place mandrel in appropriate reel quantities.

This is a 2nd Shift position.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform necessary service functions for Mandrel Preparation Operators
• Measure and replace lube cones and cleaning lube pots
• Replace the strings and plastic on reels
• Determine what mandrel to run
• Keep work area clean and organized
• Assist other operators when possible
• Cross train for flexibility
• Work within all safety and quality guidelines

What We're Looking For

Required (Basic) Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year manufacturing experience

Job Criteria

• Ability to communicate effectively with internal personnel and external personnel

Environment and Safety

Environment

• No large machinery – nothing larger than a reel lift.
• Surrounded by reels.
• There is little to no forklift traffic.
• Surrounding machines are very loud and the work, and workspace, is hot. Mandrel bonder puts off heat.

Safety

• Floors are considerably slippery. No PPE for this; best is “oil resistant” work shoes.
• Burn risk from bonders. Use gloves.
• There are some pinch points when loading a letoff, clamping mandrel at bonder, etc.
• Safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes required at all times.
• Gloves required when moving reels, handling knives.

Physical Activity

• Entire shift is spent walking or standing.
• Pushing full reels frequently.
• Ability to reach, grasp and manipulate.

• Scissors and Handheld mandrel cutters

• Scraper to take the melted plastic off the bonder
• Grinder to remove excess mandrel at the bonded spot
• Cone gauges to make sure the correct size cone is used to apply lube
