Job summary

Grocery Outlet seeks a Manager, Operator Initiatives to develop and maintain SOPs, best practices, process maps, and related materials for Independent Operators and field teams. This highly visible, field-oriented role blends store visits with governance and cross-functional collaboration.

The role requires strong project management, communication, and practical knowledge of store operations, with a focus on scalable, operator-ready guidance. Reports to the Director, Operator Initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in retail operations or similar roles.
• Ability to translate store insights into guidance for teams.
• Experience creating SOPs, training content, and process docs.
• Knowledge of project management standards and tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to engage cross-functional partners.
• Comfort spending time in stores to observe operations and gather feedback.
• Proficient with MS Office and Lucidchart; able to map processes clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own creation, governance of store and field SOPs and related materials.
• Review existing SOPs, training content, and field materials to identify gaps.
• Develop operator-ready materials including SOPs and process maps.
• Spend significant time in stores observing and validating current-state execution.
• Facilitate operator reviews to ensure guidance is usable and realistic.
• Update and standardize Lucidchart workflows and maps reflecting store operations.
• Manage operator- and field-facing initiatives from intake through execution.
• Partner with Operations, Field Leadership, Training, Communications, Finance, and more.
• Advise cross-functional teams on operator realities and adoption barriers.
• Gather feedback post-implementation and capture lessons learned.
