City of Goldsboro is seeking a wastewater plant operator to perform semiskilled work operating the facility, including laboratory and maintenance duties. Work occurs on rotating shifts and may require being called back to ensure safe wastewater treatment and discharge of waste materials.

Hiring range is negotiable between $41,686.31 - $54,192.21 depending on a candidate's qualifications and experience
Performs responsible semiskilled work in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant, including laboratory and maintenance functions. An employee in this class performs a variety of operational, laboratory, and maintenance duties designed to produce safe treatment of wastewater and disposal of domestic and commercial waste materials. Work is performed on an assigned or rotating shift and is subject to be called to return to work. Work includes monitoring the plant's operation through observation, mechanical readings, and the results of standard chemical and biological tests and to make necessary adjustments in the process as conditions or test results dictate. Other duties include performing standard laboratory duties and tests and assisting with plant and facilities maintenance. Work also includes substantial record keeping of work activities. The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
