Job summary

PUSH Incorporated is seeking an Operator I - Utility Construction to safely operate assigned construction equipment for underground utilities across rural and urban sites. You will support digging, conduit placement, and pedestal setting while following safety procedures.

The role requires field experience around utilities, ability to read prints, and a willingness to travel. CDL is preferred; a valid driver’s license is required to operate company vehicles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of verifiable experience operating smaller utility construction equipment.
• General knowledge of underground utility construction procedures.

Operator I - Utility Construction

Position Overview

The Operator I - Utility Construction is responsible for safely and efficiently operating assigned construction equipment used in the installation of underground utilities in the power, telecommunications, water, and sewer markets.

The Operator I will assist with various aspects of utility construction while operating limited equipment and performing basic labor duties as needed. This position requires field experience working around existing utilities and a working knowledge of the tools, equipment, and procedures necessary to complete underground utility construction safely, efficiently, and productively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate assigned construction equipment, including but not limited to lead cats, cleanup tractors, and compact track loaders.
• Perform digging operations in both rural and urban environments while working around existing utilities.
• Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and basic servicing of assigned construction equipment.
• Clean and maintain equipment, tools, tractors, and compact track loaders.
• Follow all company, manufacturer, and industry safety procedures and operating standards.
• Operate equipment efficiently while maintaining proper depths and avoiding damage to existing or newly installed utilities.
• Assist with routine labor activities including potholing, equipment setup, conduit, duct and cable placement, and setting pedestals.
• Drive tow vehicles for hauling equipment to and around job sites as required.
• Assist crew members with construction activities and provide training and guidance to employees learning to operate equipment.
• Communicate equipment concerns, utility conflicts, hazards, and other job-site issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Complete required time reports, invoices, purchase orders, and other project documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and minimize unnecessary cleanup.
• Represent PUSH Incorporated in a professional and positive manner when interacting with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and the public.
• Identify opportunities to improve work processes, safety, productivity, and overall operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
