Job summary

Progress Rail is seeking a 2nd shift CNC Machine Operator in Alorton, IL to machine steel parts and rails in a production shop. The role requires reading blueprints, using calipers and tape measures, and following safety procedures.

Typical schedule is Mon-Thu 4pm-2:30am and Fri 2pm-9pm with overtime as needed. Qualified candidates have at least 6 months of manufacturing or machine operator experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Job Purpose

Operation of a machine in a production shop environment working with steel materials for the production of railroad tracks and crossings.

We have an opening on 2nd shift. CNC Machine Operator pay starts at $22 with a $3 shift differential with a $1.00 INCREASE AT 1 YEAR. Quarterly Incentive Bonus for Production may be available if goals are met.

There is currently a day shift opening for a Machine Operator at our Trackwork manufacturing plant in Alorton, Illinois.

This position will be (M-Th 4pm to 2:30 am. and Fri 2 pm to 9 pm.- Overtime as needed - generally on Fridays approximately 7 hours)

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 6 months of manufacturing and/or machine operator experience;

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

• Strength - Ability to lift up to 35lbs repeatedly;
• Motion - Employee will stand for majority of the shift, will kneel, squat and climb step multiple times throughout the day;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements - Must be able to hear and see parts as they are machined, looking and listening for deficiencies and machinery malfunctions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally;
• Work Environment - The majority of the time will be indoors, in non-temperature-controlled environments. Position is exposed to oils, lubricants and other substances used in the machining process;
• Emotional Demands - Position requires employees to be vigilant to ensure safety of everyone in the area. Requires decisions on the proper operation of machine;
• Safety - Position is a safety sensitive position. Position requires following all safety procedures, policies and PPE requirements such that include hand, head, eye, hand, ear and foot protection.
