Job Description

Job Summary/Objective:
The equipment operator’s primary responsibility is to operate horizontal/directional drills and other equipment at job sites. Operators are also expected to assist with other duties around the job site as needed. This role involves working in a field environment and requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting (including in awkward positions), standing, and twisting. The role also entails working in various weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operate various construction equipment (mini excavators, backyard machines, forklifts, boom trucks, cable pullers, diggers, horizontal/directional drills, hydro vacs, etc.)
2. Visually assess digging areas to ensure proper staking and location before digging
3. Perform safety checks, load securement, check oil and fluids, and conduct minor repairs on equipment
4. Perform laborer duties as needed
5. Read blueprints, organize materials, and utilize other resources to complete excavation tasks, including basic hand tools
6. Maintain a neat and orderly work area to ensure safety for the entire crew, including oneself
7. Report unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors and People and Culture
8. Immediately address unsafe conditions to the best of your ability
9. CDL license preferred
