Job Summary/Objective:
The equipment operator’s primary role is to operate horizontal/directional drills and other equipment at job sites. Operators are also expected to assist with other duties around the site as needed. This role involves working in a field environment, often requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting. The role also involves working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate various construction equipment (mini excavators, backyard machines, forklifts, boom trucks, cable pullers, diggers, horizontal/directional drills, hydro vacs, etc.)
• Visually assess digging sites to ensure proper staking and location before digging.
• Perform safety checks, equipment maintenance, load securement, and minor repairs.
• Assist as a laborer when necessary.
• Read blueprints, organize materials, and utilize resources to complete excavation tasks, including basic hand tools.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Report unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors and HR.
• Correct unsafe conditions when possible.
• CDL license preferred.
