Job summary

Miller Pipeline is seeking Operators to safely operate heavy equipment around overhead and underground utilities. Candidates must have prior heavy equipment experience, a Class A CDL, and the ability to travel within the area.

Strong communication skills and a high school diploma or equivalent are required. Responsibilities include attaching equipment, managing hydraulics, maneuvering machinery, and ensuring safety and maintenance records.

Qualifications

• Prior heavy equipment operating experience is required.
• Must have a Class A CDL and be able to travel locally.
• HS diploma or equivalent; otherwise, work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Must pass computer-based testing specific to the local operator qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Attach and operate tractor attachments securely.
• Connect and manage hydraulic hoses, belts, and power takeoff to provide power.
• Control tool bars, carriers, and disks via levers.
• Maneuver tractor to clear rights-of-way.
• Monitor engine performance to gauge depth of cut.
• Grease and maintain equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Maintain maintenance records.
• Assess terrain and locate utilities before underground work.
• Plan the best method to complete assigned tasks.

Miller Pipeline is looking for Operators who can safely operate heavy equipment around overhead and underground utilities. Successful candidates must be able to communicate effectively, have prior work experience with heavy equipment operating and have knowledge of underground utilities.

Main Responsibilities

• Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
• Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Feel lever and listen for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
• Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Maintain all appropriate maintenance records.
• Assess the area to determine if the utilities were properly located prior to performing the underground work.
• Review the terrain to determine the best method to perform the job.

Required Qualifications

• Prior heavy equipment operating experience.
• Class A CDL
• Ability to travel around the area.
• High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
• Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer's operator qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A CDL with tanker endorsements.
