  • Assist with staging materials, packaging, and equipment cleaning.
  • Use ERP system for job tracking and data entry.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

TheMachine Operator/Deburring Technician supports both machining and finishing operations within the manufacturing department. This positionis responsible for operating basic production machinery, performing part handling, and completing deburring and finishing tasks to meet quality, safety, and delivery requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate production machineries, including loading/unloading parts and monitoring machine cycles.

  • Perform machining setups, including loading programs, installing and changing fixtures, setting tools, and verifying offsets under established procedures.

  • Assist with first-piece setup verification by checking part dimensions and features against prints and setup sheets.

  • Perform deburring, edge-breaking, polishing, and surface finishing using hand tools, rotary tools, and abrasive media.

  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

  • Follow routers, work instructions, and quality standards to ensure parts meet specifications.

  • Identify defects, burrs, or tool wear and communicate issues to the lead or supervisor.

  • Maintain accurate production records, traveler documentation, and part counts.

  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety procedures.

  • Assist with general shop tasks such as staging materials, packaging, and equipment cleaning.

  • Utilize the machine shop ERP system for job tracking, documentation access, and accurate data entry.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO/AS quality standards and OSHA safety requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • No prior machining or deburring experience required; on-the-job training provided.

  • Prior manufacturing, warehouse, or mechanical hobby experience is a plus.

  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, safety guidelines, and basic shop documentation.

  • Ability to learn and follow required procedures within the machine shop ERP system (training provided).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of mechanical processes or willingness to learn.

  • Ability to use or learn basic learning tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for fine finishing tasks.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a positive attitude toward learning new skills.

  • Ability to navigate core functions within the machine shop ERP system.
