Job summary

Applied Aerospace & Defense, Manchester site, is seeking a Deburr Operator to manually remove machining imperfections from aerospace components. You will perform deburring, blending, polishing, and edge-break creation and read operation sheets to ensure conformance with specifications.

The role requires US citizenship, a high school diploma, at least two years of deburr experience, aerospace experience, and the ability to meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of deburr experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Aerospace experience required.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Must be able to read and interpret operation sheets.
  • Able to perform precise measurements with basic math.
  • US citizen as per security requirements.
  • Good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform deburring processes including blending, polishing and the creation of edge breaks with some supervision.
  • Inspect manufactured components for conformance to specifications using bench gauging.
  • Use manual inspection equipment as required, e.g. height stands, micrometers, indicators, dial bores, verniers, etc.
  • Work with aerospace materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, magnesium, titanium, and nickel alloys.
  • Read and interpret operation sheets and work instructions.
  • Adhere to established policies and company procedures and standard work.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Document and communicate manufacturing performance issues to maintain continuity between shifts and decrease machine downtime.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow all safety policies, rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Leads, Supervisors and/or Managers.

Description

The Deburring Operator is a position that manually removes machining imperfections from parts. This position builds the operator's skills and knowledge to efficiently perform the manual blending, polishing and creation of edge breaks on precision aerospace components.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended period of time.
  • Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Moderate twisting and bending.
  • Moderate climbing on step stools or platforms.
Unusual Environmental Conditions
  • Loud machining environment; exposure to aerospace metals, lubricants and chemicals.
Required Personal Protective Equipment
  • Safety glasses/shields, appropriate manufacturing closed toed footwear, gloves, and hearing protection or other protective equipment as needed.
Qualifications
