Job summary

Novolex is hiring an Operator Associate in Frankfort, Illinois. The role involves safely operating extrusion machines, troubleshooting issues, and supporting production targets. The position offers 7am–7pm or 7pm–7am shifts with a $1,000 sign-on bonus and an hourly wage ranging from $20.22 to $22.59.

Ideal candidates will have manufacturing experience, strong communication, and a collaborative mindset to ensure quality output and safety on the production floor.

Qualifications

• Manual dexterity and steady hands for precise machine operation.
• Clear communication, both written and verbal, with crew and supervisors.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document production data accurately.
• Basic math skills for recording quantities and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Operate extrusion machines safely and consistently at standard production levels.
• Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to resolve machine issues.
• Provide solutions to production problems and support other team members.
• Mentor and guide less experienced personnel on the line.
• Complete end-of-shift paperwork including crew time and production quantities.
• Inspect output for defects and adjust processes to correct defects.
• Follow housekeeping, safety, and standard work guidelines at all times.
• Maintain safe operation through effective communication and proper PPE usage.

Job Description

Operator Associate|Frankfort, Illinois|Now Hiring

Compensation:

• $20.22 to $ 22.59 an hour
• Sign On Bonus $1,000.00

Available Shifts:

• 7am - 7pm and 7pm to 7am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consistently and safely operates machines at or above standard levels of operation including waste, quality, efficiency and utilization
• Trouble shoot, identify and correct machine related problems through proper adjustments to various parts of the machine
• Provide innovative solutions for production issues
• Provides support and guidance to less experienced personnel
• Completes appropriate end of shift paperwork, accounting for crewing time, machine time, and production quantities
• Able to inspect and recognize defective product and make machine adjustments to correct cause of defects
• Observes all housekeeping, standard work and safety guidelines
• Mechanical aptitude, demonstrated problem solving skills and effective communication skills - written and verbal are required
• Operate in a safe manner extrusion equipment in our manufacturing/production environment.

• Math Skills (calculators to determine and record production data)
• Basic troubleshooting skills to resolve minor machine issues relating to its operation
• Understanding of production measurement tools such as level, etc.

• Principles of Extrusion machines

Education and/or Experience:

• Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, highly preferred
• Ability to work with others effectively as a part of a team is essential
• Ability to follow standard work instructions is required

Physical Demand/Effort:

• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing, when required, such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat/bump cap, hair/beard net and gloves
• Ability to stand, walk, twist, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, bend throughout the duration of the scheduled shift
• Prolonged standing while performing the duties of the job
• Job requires high level of manual dexterity with repetitive use of hands, shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles
