Job summary

West Fraser is hiring for an entry-level production role in Louisiana. The position involves rotating day/night shifts and performing tasks from equipment operation to general plant maintenance. You will work on the production floor, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Starting benefits begin on Day 1, with on-the-job training and opportunities for growth within the company. Prior manufacturing exposure is preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent).
• Six months in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures within loud, high-volume settings.
• Must be able to walk, stand, sit, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Commitment to West Fraser safety policies and procedures.
• Strong communication with team members and a collaborative attitude.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe work areas, collect debris, and dispose of sawdust and lumber in assigned areas.
• Clean industrial equipment and workstations.
• Relieve production positions; operate various light and heavy industrial machinery.
• Demonstrate flexibility to perform various daily assignments.
• Support a safety-focused culture by adhering to mill safety policies and procedures.

Job description

All new hires must obtain 6-inch lace-up safety toe boots and have them at orientation, which is their first day of employment.

The schedule for this position is 40 Hours Per Week | Monday - Friday with an occasional Saturday | Rotating Shift (2 Weeks of Days - 2 Weeks of Nights).

Entry-level responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Maintaining safe work areas, collecting debris, and disposing of sawdust and dropped lumber in assigned areas
• Cleaning industrial equipment and workstations
• Relieving production positions; operating various light and heavy industrial machinery
• Showing a willingness and flexibility to perform various job assignments that may change daily
• Supporting our culture of safety by adhering to mill safety policies and procedures at all times

Required skills and experience include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of six (6) months in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
• Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures in loud, high volume environments performing physical tasks throughout the shift
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position which includes walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds
• Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures
• Recognize and support our team culture, communicating effectively with all team members
• Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
