Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate all production chemical processing equipment (reactors, feeders, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, valves, instruments, tanks, etc.).
• Conduct DCS operation to control equipment.
• Maintain batch and shift paperwork with accuracy.
• Keep a clean, organized workplace per housekeeping standards.
• Prepare work orders for maintenance and ready equipment for service.
• Minimize waste and follow waste-handling procedures in plant procedures.
• Report process upsets, spills, injuries, chemical releases, or security events.
• Safely operate forklift trucks and yard tractor with trailers.
• Perform minor maintenance on production equipment as directed.
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, distribution, and other plant personnel to meet safety and production goals.

Job Highlights

***$30.36 per hour to start. Current top operator pay is $40.87 per hour. OT is available and encouraged. Compressed workweek (DuPont schedule).*** This position is located at our Charleston plant at 2151 King St. Extension Charleston, SC 29405

• Operate all production chemical processing equipment including reactors, feeders, heat exchangers, piping networks, hoses,pumps, valves, instruments, vessels, scales, tanks, scrubbers, meters, etc.
• Conduct DCS operation to manipulate equipment controlled by the DCS.
• Maintain appropriate batch and shift paper work.
• Maintain a clean and organized workplace meeting the housekeeping standard established by the Operations Manager.
• Follow the direction of the shift coordinator in a professional and cordial manner.
• Prepare Work Orders for maintenance on the unit as needed as well as preparing the equipment for maintenance.
• Minimize waste generation, follow waste handling guidelines as specified in plant procedures.
• Report any process upset, spill, injury, chemical release, security event, etc.
• Safely operate fork trucks and the yard tractor with box and tank trailers.
• Perform minor maintenance activities on production equipment as directed by the Operations Manager.
• Represent LANXESS Inc. through daily actions that reinforce the corporate values; demonstrating personal commitment to a safe, healthy and environmentally sound workplace for employees.
• Work with engineers, production specialists, quality assurance technicians, distribution technicians, as well as other plant personnel to safely and efficiently accomplish plant responsibilities.

Experience / Skills

• High School Degree or GED Required. Associate's degree is a plus.
• Good Mechanical aptitude skills.
