Summary

Operate the paper bag making machine to produce mailer bags according to work orders and customer specifications, while ensuring optimal safety, quality, and production efficiency.

Your Mission
  • Set up the mailer bag production line according to job specifications and customer requirements.
  • Monitor production flow to ensure quality standards and productivity targets are consistently met.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and assist with repairs as needed.
  • Manage product changeovers efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all materials are prepared and available prior to production runs.
  • Coordinate activities of Assistant Operators and Inspectors to drive safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Perform general machine maintenance and support upkeep of production equipment.
  • Complete and maintain accurate production reports for management.
  • Load and unload trucks as required to support operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Operate a forklift safely when necessary.
  • Follow all company quality standards, safety policies, and procedural requirements.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and adhere to dress and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving production or quality issues.
  • Learn and apply production processes, machine capabilities, and operational documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement in production efficiency and product quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor consistent with the role.
Your Profile
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Manufacturing or production environment experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to coordinate team activities and communicate effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret job orders, production documents, and instructions.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to complete production reports accurately and on time.
  • Understanding of safety procedures, including OSHA standards and lockout/tagout practices.
  • Willingness to complete training programs.

Schedule Demands
  • Work schedules are normally 8 or 12 hours.
  • May be scheduled for rotating days off.
  • Ability to work any day, including weekends.
  • Able to work any shift, including overnight shifts.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, including extra hours on short notice.
Physical Demands
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Climbing ladders and/or stairways.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly for up to 12 hours.
    • Over 50 pounds requires two people or assisted lifting device.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to steel toe shoes, earplugs, safety glasses, and hairnet).
Work Environment
  • Works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Works on or with high voltage equipment (up to 480 volts AC).
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Moderate heat (up to 100 degrees in the summer months).
  • Noise levels of up to 90 decibels.
