Job description

Weston & Sampson CMR is seeking a Crane Operator out of our Oxford, CT location. This person will be responsible f or the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hydraulic and electric cranes, including boom truck cranes and related lifting equipment, in support of well drilling, pump installation, well rehabilitation, well maintenance, and related construction activities. This position supports field crews by lifting, loading, unloading, relocating, and positioning drilling equipment, casing, pipe, pumps, generators, tanks, tools, materials, and other project equipment.

What You’ll Do
  • Work closely with riggers, signal persons, project managers, and supervisors to complete daily field tasks safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
  • Safely operate hydraulic and electric cranes ranging from 1-ton to 20-ton lifting capacity in support of well drilling, pump installation, pump repair, well rehabilitation, and construction activities.
  • Perform lifting and rigging activities associated with water supply wells, geothermal drilling, environmental drilling, pump installation, and related well service projects.
  • Load, unload, transport, and position drilling rigs, casing, pipe, vertical turbine pumps, submersible pumps, generators, tanks, tools, materials, and support equipment.
  • Review lift plans and verify load weights, crane capacities, radius limitations, site conditions, ground stability, and clearances before conducting lifting operations.
  • Support well drilling and pump crews with daily mechanical and construction-related tasks when crane operations are not required.
  • Coordinate with direct supervisors to organize equipment, materials, tools, and stock needed to complete daily well and pump project tasks.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections of cranes, boom trucks, wire ropes, slings, hooks, hydraulic systems, outriggers, safety devices, vehicles, tools, and other jobsite equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, minor repairs, and basic troubleshooting of crane and support equipment.
  • Complete equipment inspection reports, maintenance logs, daily operational records, field vehicle inspections, time sheets, and other required documentation.
What You Will Bring
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Valid CT H(b) Crane License.
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of experience operating cranes in construction, utility, drilling, heavy civil or industrial related field environments.
  • Demonstrated experience operating hydraulic and electric cranes with lifting capacities from 1 ton to 20 tons.
  • General working knowledge of crane setup, load charts, rigging practices, lift planning and jobsite hazard assessment.
  • General working knowledge of gravel water supply wells.
  • General working knowledge of safe handling well treatment and neutralization chemicals.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
  • Driver's license; CDL preferred.

Pay Range: $36.00-$40.00/hour depending on experience
