Job summary

EDL is seeking a capable operator to maintain and run a gas-fuelled power plant with multiple spark-ignition engines and supporting equipment.

You will perform inspections, document maintenance activities, and manage routine safety tasks while adhering to regulatory guidelines. The role includes on-call duties and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Maintenance, mechanical or electrical experience in industrial settings.
• Basic computer literacy including Word and Excel.
• Experience with gas or diesel reciprocating engines and generators.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to collect data and write clear reports and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a gas-fuelled power plant with spark-ignition engines and auxiliaries.
• Follow workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines.
• Inspect and maintain fixed plant equipment (engines, generators, pumps, valves).
• Inspect gas processing equipment (compressors, aftercoolers, dehydration skids) and controls.
• Document and report equipment maintenance, operation and condition.
• Fault-find, repair and report electrical and mechanical systems.
• Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
• Be on-call within 45 minutes of the power station during on-call hours.
• Carry out routine housekeeping duties.
• Uphold health and safety obligations for self and others.
• Support company policies and may take on other duties as assigned.

Job description

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Operation and Maintenance of gas fuelled power plant, consisting of multiple spark ignition reciprocating engines as well as all associated auxiliary equipment.

• Comply with all workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations.

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including engines, generators and other auxiliary equipment such as pumps, chillers, valves etc.

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of gas processing equipment, including compressors, aftercoolers, filtration vessels, dehydration skids, and the associated controls, gages and valves that support their operation.

• Administrative duties including documenting and reporting equipment maintenance, operation and condition.

• Perform fault-finding, repairs and reporting of electrical and mechanical systems.

• Operation of advanced instrumentation and process control systems.

• Available for on-call duties remaining within 45 minutes of the power station during these hours.

• Carry out routine housekeeping duties.

• Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.

• Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company's employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors.

• In addition to the duties set out above, the Operator may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company.

Person Specification

• Ability to work autonomously and self-motivate in a multi-skilled work environment.
• Ability to cooperate and effectively communicate with co-workers and contractors, sometimes during high stress situations.
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
• Analytical and trouble shooting skills in either mechanical or electrical systems.
• Ability to read, write, hear and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
• Must be able to see adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to stand, sit, bend, squat, crawl, climb, stoop, walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to occasionally travel by automobile and/or airline for extended periods of time.

Qualifications and Experience

• Current driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and on-call hours.
• Maintenance, mechanical or electrical experience and/or suitable background.
• Basic computer operation including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to collect and interpret data and write clear, accurate reports and specifications.
• Experience with Gas and or Diesel reciprocating engines.
• Experience with Caterpillar reciprocating engines.
• Experience with LFG Power Generation Systems.
• Experience with LFG extraction and use systems and equipment.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and overhaul mechanical & electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with the operation of instrumentation and process control equipment and systems.
• Proficient in using computers, instrumentation, metering and/or monitoring equipment to measure, record and adjust within operating parameters.
• Basic electrical skills with the ability to fault find and carry out preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, such as PLC's, Generators, High Voltage and or Control systems
• Basic mechanical skills with the ability to fault find and carry out preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including engines, compressors, pumps and valves.
