Job summary

EDL in Morgantown, PA seeks a power plant Operator to maintain gas-fueled engines and allied equipment. You will perform inspections, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, and document operations and maintenance activities, while keeping health and safety at the forefront.

On-call availability within 45 minutes, weekends and holidays as required. The role requires independent work, strong communication with teams and contractors, and adherence to OSHA safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and on-call hours.
• Maintenance, mechanical or electrical experience and/or suitable background.
• Basic computer operation including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to collect and interpret data and write clear, accurate reports and specifications.
• Experience with Gas and/or Diesel reciprocating engines.
• Experience with Caterpillar reciprocating engines.
• Experience with LFG Power Generation Systems.
• Familiarity with the operation of instrumentation and process control equipment.
• Basic electrical skills with fault finding on electrical equipment, such as PLCs and control systems.
• Basic mechanical skills with fault finding and preventive maintenance on engines, compressors, pumps and valves.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain gas-fueled power plant equipment and assist with auxiliary systems.
• Comply with workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including engines, generators and pumps, valves, etc.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of gas processing equipment, including compressors, aftercoolers, filtration vessels and dehydration skids.
• Document and report equipment maintenance, operation and condition.
• Fault-find, repair and report electrical and mechanical systems.
• Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
• Remain available for on-call duties within 45 minutes of the power station.
• Carry out routine housekeeping duties.
• Ensure health and safety of self and others per policies and procedures.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Operation and Maintenance of gas fuelled power plant, consisting of multiple spark ignition reciprocating engines as well as all associated auxiliary equipment.

• Comply with all workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations.

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including engines, generators and other auxiliary equipment such as pumps, chillers, valves etc.

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of gas processing equipment, including compressors, aftercoolers, filtration vessels, dehydration skids, and the associated controls, gages and valves that support their operation.

• Administrative duties include documenting and reporting equipment maintenance, operation and condition.

• Perform fault-finding, repairs and reporting of electrical and mechanical systems.

• Operation of advanced instrumentation and process control systems.

• Available for on-call duties remaining within 45 minutes of the power station during these hours.

• Carry out routine housekeeping duties.

• Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.

• Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company's employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors.

• In addition to the duties set out above, the Operator may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company.

• Basic electrical skills with the ability to fault find and carry out preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, such as PLC's, Generators, High Voltage and or Control systems
• Basic mechanical skills with the ability to fault find and carry out preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including engines, compressors, pumps and valves.
