Job summary

Jobtailor in Maryland is seeking an experienced equipment operator to support construction projects. You will operate heavy equipment, perform pre-use inspections, and coordinate with site partners to prepare work areas while maintaining safety protocols.

The role requires a valid CDL, 40-hour HAZWOPER training with an 8-hour refresher, OSHA 30-hour, and First Aid/CPR certification, ensuring readiness for on-site activities and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3–5 years of equipment operating experience in construction.
• CDL license is required.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher.
• OSHA 30-hour training and First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment safely to mitigate risk of injury and property damage.
• Drives and controls equipment to complete tasks at the site.
• Prepares job sites with internal/external partners for equipment activities.
• Conducts surveillance of surroundings for safe ground and slope conditions.
• Performs daily pre-inspection and ongoing maintenance checks.
• Loads/unloads equipment from transport vehicles and completes paperwork.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Operates all equipment in a safe and appropriate manner to mitigate risk of injury and property damage.
• Drives and controls equipment to complete tasks at the specified location.
• Collaborates with internal and external partners to prepare job sites for assigned equipment activities.
• Conducts constant surveillance of surroundings before and during the operation of all equipment to ensure safe ground and slope conditions.
• Performs daily pre-inspection of equipment to ensure it is safe and fit for duty, and conducts ongoing maintenance checks.
• Loads and unloads equipment from vehicles used to transport it.
• Completes required reports and other paperwork related to equipment use.

Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of equipment operating experience in a construction environment, including one (1) to three (3) years of excavation experience
• Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
• 40-hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher
• OSHA 30-hour training, and First Aid/CPR certification
