This role partners with Operations, Safety, HR, Quality, and Plant Leadership across multiple sites, with regular travel up to 40% to ensure high standards and program effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Training & Development or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional training in manufacturing/industrial environments.
  • Experience designing structured training programs, materials, and assessments.
  • Strong facilitation, writing and interpersonal skills across levels.

Responsibilities

  • Assess training needs and independently set priorities and solutions.
  • Design, develop, implement, and improve standardized programs and curricula.
  • Determine training methods (instructor-led, online, blended) based on risk and needs.
  • Collaborate with leaders to review cGMPs, work instructions and safety content.
  • Develop Train-the-Trainer programs with criteria, standards, and coaching.
  • Deliver training and evaluate understanding through checks and assessments.

Schedule: Mon – Friday; Operations/Support teams may be required to be on call 24/7 to maintain business operations.

Travel: Up to 40%.

Pay: $70-85,000, DOE + Bonus Opportunity

Role Overview

The Operations Training & Development Specialist is responsible for assessing organizational training needs and independently developing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving company-wide learning programs that support safe operations, consistent work practices, employee competency, cross-training, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness.

This role partners with Operations, Safety, Human Resources, Quality, Transportation, Plant Leadership, and other subject‑matter experts to establish learning priorities, curricula, competency standards, assessments, qualification processes, and Train‑the‑Trainer programs.

This is a multi‑site role requiring regular, independent travel to all 101 locations, including overnight travel as business needs require.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the need for current or future immigration sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities (others may be assigned as business needs dictate)

  • Lead by example in the adherence of all Company policies, processes and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, the Safety Manual, Department Manual, cGMPs, etc.
  • Assess organizational, departmental, role‑based, and site‑specific training needs and independently recommend training priorities and solutions.
  • Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve standardized training programs, curricula, learning objectives, instructional materials, assessments, competency standards, and qualification processes.
  • Determine appropriate instructor‑led, hands‑on, online, blended, practical, and competency‑based learning methods based on objectives, audience, risk, and operational needs.
  • Partner with operational leaders and subject‑matter experts to review and improve cGMPs, work instructions, and training content to support approved best practices, required tools/equipment, and applicable Safety/PPE requirements.
  • Coordinate training‑development and deployment priorities across company locations with Plant Leadership, Safety, Human Resources, Quality, Transportation, and other applicable functions.
  • Develop and administer a standardized Train‑the‑Trainer program, including trainer selection criteria, instructional standards, coaching, observation tools, qualification methods, and ongoing trainer development.
  • Deliver classroom, field‑based, and hands‑on training as appropriate and evaluate employee understanding through knowledge checks, demonstrations, observations, and practical competency assessments.
  • Develop structured new‑hire and role‑specific learning paths, including training milestones, refresher and remedial training, competency verification, and documented sign‑off expectations.
  • Design and facilitate structured learning programs for newly promoted and existing supervisors and managers.
  • Recommend cross‑training priorities based on identified operational and workforce needs.
  • Develop/implement a Learning Management System (LMS) to track training progress/completion and a visual dashboard for management/
  • leadership teams.
  • Attend all company meetings and trainings as required.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or greater in Training & Development, Education, Manufacturing, Operations, Safety, Quality, Business, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in combination with education.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional training, learning and development, quality, safety, or operational training experience in a manufacturing, industrial, transportation, food, recycling, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing training needs and developing structured training programs, materials, assessments, or competency‑based qualification tools.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, coaching, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with front‑line employees through senior management.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, evaluate alternatives, exercise sound judgment, and make recommendations within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with LMS or digital learning systems preferred.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • OSHA‑10/30, preferred.
