Job summary

Superior Metals Manufacturing (SMM) is hiring for entry-level Operations Technician positions in Chittenango, NY, with night shift options and a $3/hr differential on 3rd shift. Starting pay is $22.54/hr plus quarterly bonuses and a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

Full training provided in our new aerospace alloy facility. Responsibilities include handling revert material, assisting furnace operations, basic equipment tasks, and ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn industrial equipment.
• Ability to read/follow written instructions and safety procedures.
• Basic math skills for weighing and measuring.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Basic Computer skills are needed.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Ability to work overtime and on-site in Chittenango, NY.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, cleaning, sorting, resizing, and weighing recycled metals "revert" to prepare for the melting process.
• Operate basic equipment (grinders, analyzers, cut-off saws) after training.
• Record weights, batch data, and traceability information.
• Organize, stage, label, and prepare materials for furnace charging.
• Assist furnace operators by safely delivering charge materials.
• Safely operate cranes, hoists, and forklifts (training provided).
• Follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety requirements.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and support 5S standards.
• Communicate effectively to support production flow and problem-solving.
