Job summary

Landus Cooperative in New York seeks a motivated team member to support outside agronomy and grain operations, delivering quality customer service while ensuring safe, efficient grain handling.

You will assist with elevator operations, grain receiving, drying, inventory measurement, and related fertilizer/chemical tasks, with training and a stable career in a cooperative environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Move/lift up to 50–100 pounds.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Understand seasonality of an agricultural cooperative.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and courteously.
• Maintain and grow agronomy, grain originations and marketing with existing customers and acquire new customers.
• Assist elevator operations at location.
• Receive and unload grain; operate grain drying.
• Measure grain inventory weekly or monthly; assist in loading/cleaning cars.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and safety records; repair equipment as needed.
• Assist with fertilizer and chemical operations as applicable.
• Support NH3 nurse tanks and applicator services as seasonally required.

Overview

We are seeking a motivated individual to be part of the Landus team who will be responsible for our outside agronomy and grain operations. At Landus, you’ll find a fun team atmosphere and a stable career.

What would you do?

• Greet all customers promptly and courteously
• Maintain and increase agronomy and feed sales, grain origination and marketing with existing customers and grow business with new customers, as applicable.
• Assist in all aspects of the elevator operations, if applicable to location.
• Receiving and unloading grain operations.
• Grain drying operations.
• Measuring grain inventory on a weekly/monthly basis.
• Grain train loading operations including cleaning and sealing cars.
• Keeping facility clean, safe and housekeeping records current.
• Maintain grain condition by testing temperatures and blending.
• Assist in all aspects of the fertilizer and chemical operations, if applicable to location.
• Measure inventory and report it to the supervisor.
• Assist in unloading bulk and packaged product.
• Provide customer service and loading chemical product orders.
• Maintain and repair equipment as needed.
• Pumping bulk chemicals into customer tanks.
• Tender to applicators.
• Fill NH3 nurse tanks during season.
• Understand basic agronomy chemistry of all products.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to move/lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Understand the seasonality of an agricultural cooperative and the in-season time commitment.

Other skills that will help you succeed:

• Be able to obtain a Class A CDL with air brake, tanker, and HazMat endorsements.
• Participate in company DOT drug and alcohol program and maintain current DOT physical.
• Good computer skills.
