Job summary

McCormick & Company is hiring an Operations Technician for 2nd shift in South Bend, Indiana. The role involves setting up and operating automatic filling and packaging lines, weighing and blending ingredients, and ensuring safety and quality through detailed procedures and paperwork.

You will perform product changeovers, monitor equipment, document downtime, and collaborate with teams to identify improvements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and start automatic filling and packaging equipment.
• Load packaging and raw materials; pack finished product.
• Weigh, blend, and cook product on all mix systems.
• Follow procedures and complete paperwork for safety and quality.
• Perform product changeovers and size changes; minor/major repairs.
• Monitor mixing equipment and conduct sensory/visual checks.
• Document downtime and machine adjustments; track material loss.
• Identify process issues with teams and promote safety.
• Be responsible for daily production quality and quantity.
• Operate forklift to obtain/return ingredients.
• Perform checks on timing of equipment; attend on-site.
• OT may be required including weekends.

Role Summary:

• Set up and start automatic filling and packaging equipment, load packaging and raw materials, and pack off finished product.
• Weigh, blend, and cook product on all mix systems.
• Follow detailed procedures and complete paperwork accurately to ensure safe, consistent, and quality product.
• Make product changeovers, package size changes, minor and major repairs on all equipment.
• Monitor operation of mixing equipment through visual checks of product and sensory evaluation of key component pieces.
• Assemble component pieces of equipment belonging to continuous and pre-mix systems and their auxiliary components.
• Document downtime and machine adjustments.
• Understand and practice loss control of raw and packaging materials.
• Work with Teams to identify process issues and improvement opportunities.
• Actively promote safety and identify unsafe actions and conditions using a principle-based safety approach.
• Be responsible for quality and quantity of production daily.
• Obtain and return ingredients using a forklift.
• Perform checks on critical timing of equipment.
• On-site attendance is required.
• OT as necessary to include weekends.
• Perform other duties as required.

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Sales Incentive Bonus (SIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Dividend Program.
