Job summary

McCormick & Company in South Bend, IN is seeking an Ops Tech on the 2nd shift to set up and run automatic filling and packaging lines. You will load materials, monitor mix systems, and perform changeovers and repairs while ensuring safety and quality across daily production.

.The role requires on-site attendance and may include weekend OT. You will work with the team to identify improvements and maintain loss control of materials, contributing to McCormick’s total rewards and benefits packages.

Responsibilities

• Set up and start automatic filling and packaging equipment; load packaging and raw materials
• Weigh, blend, and cook product on all mix systems
• Follow procedures and complete paperwork for safety, consistency, and quality
• Make product changeovers and package size changes; perform repairs on equipment
• Monitor operation of mixing equipment via visual checks and sensory evaluation
• Document downtime and machine adjustments; ensure loss control of materials
• Identify process issues and opportunities for improvement with the team
• Promote safety and identify unsafe actions or conditions
• Ensure daily production quality and quantity targets are met
• Operate forklift to obtain and return ingredients

Role Summary

• Set up and start automatic filling and packaging equipment, load packaging and raw materials, and pack off finished product.
• Weigh, blend, and cook product on all mix systems.
• Follow detailed procedures and complete paperwork accurately to ensure safe, consistent, and quality product.
• Make product changeovers, package size changes, minor and major repairs on all equipment.
• Monitor operation of mixing equipment through visual checks of product and sensory evaluation of key component pieces.
• Assemble component pieces of equipment belonging to continuous and pre-mix systems and their auxiliary components.
• Document downtime and machine adjustments.
• Understand and practice loss control of raw and packaging materials.
• Work with Teams to identify process issues and improvement opportunities.
• Actively promote safety and identify unsafe actions and conditions using a principle-based safety approach.
• Be responsible for quality and quantity of production daily.
• Obtain and return ingredients using a forklift.
• Perform checks on critical timing of equipment.
• On‑site attendance is required.
• OT as necessary to include weekends.
• Perform other duties as required.

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Sales Incentive Bonus (SIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Dividend Program.
