Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking an Operations Technology Engineer at our East Chicago, Indiana finishing operation. You will support daily core-unit operations, perform technical analysis, and supervise frontline operators in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Science or Engineering.
Willing to work in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
Willing to work weekends, Holidays, and midnight shifts on occasion.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
Good troubleshooting and team building skills.

Responsibilities

Support daily operation of a core unit, including technical analysis and supervision of frontline operators.
Work safely to improve reliability and quality following safety policies.
Consult with current technical personnel and R&D as required.
Evaluate existing practices for pickling of hot roll steel coils, tandem rolling, annealing and heat treating for high-quality finished products.
Maintain controlled documents and ensure training practices meet KPIs.
Back up the Operations Coordinator for a core unit.
Investigate and implement continuous improvements projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
