Job summary

Volvo Group is seeking an Operations Technician to move materials, load fixtures, and perform gridder/AM tasks in sub-assembly areas. You will manage inventory, inspect parts, and coordinate with the warehouse to prevent line stoppages.

The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and safety in a manufacturing setting, with opportunities for growth and development within Volvo Group University. CDL preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/equivalent required and legal work authorization in the United States.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to follow written plans and procedures.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel or Microsoft platforms.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile equipment including forklifts and other loading devices.
• Move materials through the facility and load sub-assembly fixtures.
• Perform gridder functions and AM activities at sub-assembly cells.
• Inspect incoming parts for accuracy and condition.
• Maintain inventory control and perform cycle counts.
• Resolve inventory discrepancies and manage long lead-time inventory.
• Work with minimal supervision and communicate across the facility.

What You Will Do

Operations Technician

The Operations Technician is responsible for material movement, fixture loading, and performing gridder functions in support of sub-assembly operations. This role involves transporting materials throughout the facility, loading sub-assembly fixtures, and performing autonomous maintenance (AM) activities at sub-assembly cells. The Operations Technician will move racks, skids, and other materials—both full and empty and maintain accurate inventory control. This position is also responsible for processing incoming materials, performing cycle counts, and managing inventory accuracy. The Operations Technician will address inventory adjustments from suppliers or the warehouse dispute kitting inaccuracies order hot parts through the warehouse or buyer and manage long lead-time inventory to prevent production line stoppages.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing or industrial environment and may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, dust, temperature variations, and other typical plant conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks on a regular basis. Essential functions include standing and walking for extended periods; bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching; and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials, racks, skids, and equipment.

Job Accountabilities

• Operate mobile equipment, including spotting trailers, forklifts, tuggers, and similar equipment
• Move materials throughout the facility and load sub-assembly fixtures
• Perform gridder functions and AM activities at sub-assembly cells
• Inspect incoming parts for accuracy and condition
• Maintain inventory control, process incoming materials, and perform cycle counts
• Resolve inventory discrepancies and dispute kitting errors with the warehouse
• Order hot parts through the warehouse or buyer and manage long lead-time inventory
• Work effectively with minimal supervision
• Communicate effectively with employees across all areas of the facility
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (CDL preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to follow written plans and procedures
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to pass pre-employment background screening, physical assessment, physical examination, and drug screening
• Ability to work overtime as required and work any assigned shift
• Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime

Desired Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in a business or industrial discipline
• Two (2) years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Proficient computer skills in Excel or other Microsoft platforms
• Demonstrated safety training in an industrial environment

For this position, the base pay is set at $30.29/hour, and where applicable, bonus eligible.
