Job summary

Chemtrade is seeking an Operations Team Leader to supervise on-shift operators and plant operations in Toledo, OH. You will troubleshoot equipment and monitor production yields while ensuring environmental compliance and safe working conditions.

The role includes coordinating maintenance, training, and process improvements with a focus on cost control and quality. Qualified candidates have a Stationary Engineers license, 5+ years in industrial manufacturing, and 2+ years of leadership

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and direct production operations on shift and provide supervision to operators.
  • Provide technical training and support to operations personnel.
  • Review process performance, track consumption, and drive improvements.
  • Assist in budgeting, schedules, and raw materials planning.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and safe working conditions; participate in training.

Operations Team Leader

Primary Location: Toledo, OH

Reports to: Operations Manager

Compensation: 130k - 135k + benefits + overtime. A 5,000$ base comp increase will be applied upon completion of training.

About This Role and You

The Shift Supervisor is to provide on-shift supervision of operators and plant operations. They will troubleshoot and resolve equipment and operating problems and review operating data daily. They will monitor raw material utilization and production yields to ensure most efficient utilization of materials and optimization of quality products as well as ensure environmental compliance for all areas of operation; air, water, and solid. Support and participate in Responsible Care programs to maintain safe working conditions for employees and the environment. Prepare, update and review operation procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility. Coordinate operations and maintenance activities to meet department goals involving budgets, production schedules and raw materials consumption.

Qualifications
  • High school Diploma
  • Must have a Stationary Engineers license
  • 5+ years experience working within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years experience leading/managing others, MS Office, Payroll system, CMMS
  • Strong commitment to safety

Physical Demands/Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision. Must be physically capable of spending long hours outdoors and occasionally work in protected clothing and equipment. Ability to climb stairs and ladders (including vertical).

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and direct production operations
  • Provide technical training and assistance to operation personnel
  • Provide plant personnel process knowledge and track production and unit consumption rates
  • Control operation cost by reviewing operating data daily and report and investigate deviations from set operating parameters and initiate corrective actions, identify and initiate process/production improvements and modifications while ensuring work orders are entered correctly and approved
  • Assist Operations Manager in improving effectiveness and efficiency of plant operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and operating problems in the unit
  • Monitor environmental emissions and wastewater discharge
  • Train and ensure operations personnel are trained to perform their duties safely
  • Support and participate in all training initiatives as required
  • Ensure all operations personnel know and receive their regulatory, safety, and environmental training; update and develop operation procedures, process modifications and equipment changes to improve plant operations
  • Assist in PHA reviews, Regulatory, Environmental, Safety, and ISO audits
  • Attend and conduct safety meetings and area inspections of the plant
  • Assist Maintenance and Engineering
  • Oversee the receiving and unloading of products and raw materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned
