Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an Operations Support Specialist 2/3 to support the Project Controls Group within the Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division, onsite at Los Alamos, NM. The role includes reviewing design packages, driving process improvements, and ensuring documentation compliance.
A Bachelor's or Associate's degree with related experience is required, plus strong MS Office skills and independent work capability.

This position will be filled at either the Operations Support Specialist 2/3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. The Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division is responsible for providing engineering support to aid in safe operation and modification of Laboratory's Nuclear Facilities. The successful candidate will be a member of the Project Controls Group supporting the modification team and will report to the Project Controls Team Leader. Modification provides collaborative, innovative designs to solve problems or improve safety and non-safety systems at LANL's primary plutonium facility to maintain the LANL mission. The Operations Support Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the robustness of the Configuration Management program by implementing key performance indicators for the design processes at TA-55, analyzing the effectiveness, completeness, and identifying additional corrective actions required for continuous improvement of the PFE design process. The Operations Support Specialist will also be responsible for reviewing engineering design packages, change paperwork and standalone documents for completeness and compliance with our policies and procedures. You will be expected to use personal leadership skills and effective communication to support daily operations specific functions to PFE Division, modification engineering sub-area, and throughout PFE Division as needed. Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Assures safety and security compliance, maintains required safety and security training, , and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. Provides direct support of operations in programs, facilities, or organizations that have an operational or process-based deliverable. Ensures that the process is followed through to completion with efficiency, accuracy, and with high quality, while understanding and maintaining priorities. Follows established procedures, maintains documentation such as record-keeping, budget and cost-tracking, inventory-tracking; develops documentation when necessary. Communicates and coordinates with team-members, supervisors, and other involved organizations to ensure that the deliverable will be efficiently met, obstacles are anticipated, and priorities are clearly understood. Assists with the development of detailed plans to manage processes, scope, quality, efficiency, risk to deliverables, communications, and professional responsibility. Performs various administrative tasks such as procurments, travel administration, resource scheduling, as well as office and personnel support. Assists with and coordinates the review and revision of procedures, scope, and process development and improvement pertaining to organizational or facility operations.

Education/Experience at lower level:
Position requires a Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at higher level:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
Work Location:
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Work is fully on site and will include C shift support (Friday - Monday: Day Shift). On call support will also be required. #ShiftWork
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements:
To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
