Job summary

Barnhart Energy Company in Knoxville, TN seeks an experienced Operations Support Manager to lead on-site crane layout, lift planning, and field performance. You will travel with the crew, manage work to meet customer expectations, and coordinate with Project Managers and Field Leaders to ensure equipment availability and safe execution.

This role requires strong servant leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to train and mentor crew members.

Responsibilities

• Layout cranes and equipment on site as needed
• Travel with crew onsite and manage work per lift plans
• Assist in out-of-town assignments for branch operations
• Participate in handoff meetings and communicate expectations
• Coordinate equipment needs and trucking in collaboration with others
• Enforce safety programs and evaluate job hazards
• Participate in customer/site meetings and internal reviews
• Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating crew members
• Maintain yard organization and equipment storage
• Coordinate dispatch and equipment load-outs for projects
• Request permits from state/local DOTs as needed

Job description

• Work onsite as needed to layout cranes and other equipment to support operational execution
• Travel with crew onsite and manage the work as a Non-Working Operations support manager to make sure lift plans are being followed and managing customer expectations.
• If needed travel or stay out of town for a minimum of 3 days to assist in work that is essential to branch operations and continued customer development
• Participate in handoff meetings to receive direction, engineered drawings, schedules, and communicate expectations for field performance
• Work together with internal resources to identify equipment needed, perform inspections, develop load out lists and to coordinate trucking as necessary
• Ensure scheduled work is properly utilizing company safety programs to evaluate job hazards and manage risks throughout job tasks
• Participate in Customer meetings, Site meetings and internal Job Reviews to promote constant growth and improvement
• Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating crew members at scheduled intervals in collaboration with management.
• Embrace and enhance the Barnhart culture at the branch.
• Ensure safe and efficient daily yard operations while maintaining a thorough understanding of Barnhart Standard Operating Procedures.
• Develop and maintain efficient storage locations for Branch equipment and own the organization of the yard(s).
• Coordinate employee dispatch and equipment load-outs for project work while managing third-party deliveries to the branch.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Field Leaders, and Peg to ensure equipment availability.
• Request OTR permits from State and Local DOT’s as needed.

• Willingness and ability to travel as required to meet business objectives and operational needs.
