Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies is seeking an Industrial Security Facilities Intern to join the Security and Facilities team in San Diego, CA. You will work on-site under the Facility Security Officer and Facilities Manager to protect our DoD facilities, personnel, and systems, and support general facilities requests at multiple locations.

The role involves coordinating with vendors, maintaining security-related records, and assisting with both classified and unclassified operations.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in the listed fields
  • Preferred juniors/seniors
  • Eligibility to obtain/maintain Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day facilities operations, including office maintenance, supplies, equipment, and workspace readiness
  • Support facility inspections and help identify maintenance, safety, and housekeeping issues
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and building management on service requests and repairs
  • Maintain accurate records of facilities-related requests, inventory, work orders, and documentation
  • Help organize office moves, workspace setups, events, and other facilities projects
  • Provide support with health, safety, security, and emergency-preparedness procedures
  • Respond to employee facilities requests and help ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming workplace
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, coordinating calendars, and preparing meeting materials for both classified and unclassified operations
  • Provides security support unclassified and classified operations
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail packages
  • Maintain, track and audit inventory materials associated with contracts, and information systems
  • Prepare and manage security training and briefings for all employees
  • Coordinate new employee clearance process
  • Support the FSO with various compliance assessments
  • Manage incoming visitor procedures related to company meetings and software demonstrations
  • Revise and validate process and procedures
  • Learn and operate the inventory management system

About The Role:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Industrial Security Facilities Intern to be part of our Security and Facilities team and based out of our Arlington, VA, Fall River, MA, San Diego, CA, or Mt. Laurel, NJ location.

Industrial Security Facilities Interns work alongside our Facility Security Officer and Facilities Manager teams will assist in protecting our DOD facilities, personnel and systems in accordance with Government requirements issued in 32 CFR 117 directives. In addition to general facilities related requests across multiple IDT locations.

Clearance & Location Requirements:
  • All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • This is a fully on-site position based out of our Arlington, VA, Fall River, MA, San Diego, CA, or Mt. Laurel, NJ location.

What You Will Do:

Who You Are (Required):
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program with a major in Business Management, Engineering, Criminal Justice, International Studies or related field
  • Current college juniors/rising seniors preferred.

Pay Range*: $28 - $34 / Hour
