Job summary

Recology King County in Seattle seeks an Operations Supervisor to supervise operations personnel and routing drivers, ensuring efficient and effective services. The shift covers Saturday, Sunday and Monday 12pm-10pm, and Tue-Wed 5pm-3am, with Thu-Fri off.

You will assign routes, monitor performance, resolve customer issues, and analyze operations to optimize efficiency. Preference for a Bachelor's degree and a Class B CDL, with strong leadership experience in waste/logistics.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Management experience in waste industry, recycling programs, transportation, production or logistics operations.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License preferred on hire or within six months.
  • Knowledge of employee training, supervision and evaluation.
  • Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns employees to routes and pickups to ensure timely service and balances workload.
  • Analyzes routes, makes recommendations and implements routing changes.
  • Monitors work, enforces safety policies and maintains route efficiency.
  • Resolves customer service issues with drivers and handles inquiries and complaints.
  • May adjust rates with management approval and resolve billing disputes.
  • Generates and analyzes operational reports and makes recommendations.
  • Maintains knowledge of rates for accurate customer billing; notifies management of delinquent accounts.
  • Performs or reviews pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Investigates and reports injuries or incidents; manages attendance and time records.
  • Drives trucks as needed and may back-up dispatch duties.
  • Ensures adherence to policies, procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • May participate in community and business meetings on behalf of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role

Responsible for supervising operations personnel and routing drivers and monitoring work to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Shift will be Saturday, Sunday & Monday: 12pm - 10pm. Tuesday & Wednesday: 5pm - 3am. Off Thursday & Friday.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assigns employees to routes and special pickups for timely services. Assigns employees to balance workload. Arranges alternate coverage of service in case of employee absence or equipment failure.
  • Ensures the accountability of route completions. May analyze routes, make recommendations, and implement routing changes.
  • Monitors work to ensure efficient and effective operations. Observes collection practices on the routes and enforces safety policies and procedures.
  • Resolves, with drivers as appropriate, customer service problems, ensures extras and overlooks are picked up and responds to complaints of unsatisfactory service. Investigates and resolves customer inquiries and complaints. May include responding to and corresponding with jurisdictional staff.
  • Recommends rate adjustments and how to resolve billing disputes. With management approval, may make rate adjustments and resolve billing disputes.
  • Generates and analyzes operational reports and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Possesses knowledge of rates to ensure appropriate customer billing. Advises Operations Manager of delinquent accounts and assists in their collection.
  • Performs or reviews pre- and post-trip inspections.

Qualifications
