Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks an Operations Supervisor for Paint & Sound Dampening at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI. The role oversees blasting, painting and coating application, coordinating crews to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

The position requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to manage shifts and schedules, with a focus on continuous improvement and adherence to DoD standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of related experience at Electric Boat.
• 1+ year Electric Boat experience with a related Engineering degree.
• 3+ years of combined, relevant, high-volume and leadership experience.
• Available to work all shifts, including extended hours, weekends or holidays.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Daily assignments and coordination of employees performing blasting, painting, sound dampening, and coating applications to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Organize and assign work to hourly employees while meeting safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives.
• Continuously improve operations and reduce work order span times; collaborate with other supervisors for first-time quality on time.
• Follow safe work practices and understand verbal/written instructions; support production needs as required.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors.
• Set, assign, and measure daily production goals; mentor and motivate crew; hold members accountable.

Operations Supervisor – Paint & Sound Dampening

must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Daily assignments and overall coordination of employees performing blasting, painting, sound dampening and application of special hull coatings to ensure maximum performance, efficiency and quality of functions
• Ability to effectively organize and assign work to hourly employees such that safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, reduce work order span times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with other multi-trade Supervisors on the team to provide first time quality on time
• Possess knowledge of safe work practices; ability to comprehend and follow or issue verbal and/or written instructions; willing to work as necessary to support production needs
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors.
• Ability to set, assign, and measure daily production goals, instruct, mentor, motivate crew and hold crew members accountable as required

Required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must meet one of the following criteria:
• 1+ year of related experience at Electric Boat
• 1+ year of Electric Boat experience combined with a related Engineering degree
• 3+ years of combined, relevant, high-volume and leadership experience
• Available to work all shifts, including extended hours, weekends or holidays as business needs dictate
• Possess strong PC skills including proficiency with the MS Word and Excel
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred

• 3+ years of paint, sound dampening and/or blast experience
• Vocational/College/Technical school
• Relevant education or training
• MDU training
• Navy/military
