Job description

Overview

The Operations Supervisor is a key leader position in the distribution and operations organization reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as knowledge of warehouse operations. Preference for warehouse automation experience is a plus but not required. The Operations Supervisor leads day-to-day operations and personnel, ensuring the highest level of customer service to customers while managing both union and non-union employees and building a cohesive team.

Responsibilities

• Planning – Ability to identify and plan for staffing requirements based on knowledge of warehousing and distribution operations, make decisions using experience and operations planning, ensure procedures and processes meet operational needs, and train and implement new technology and processes while maintaining productivity.
• Building an inclusive culture – Foster individual and collective accountability, reward and recognition programs, and communication designed for frontline employees to create a desirable workplace.
• Continuous Improvement – Develop and implement performance-based metrics to drive results through continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Six Sigma.
• Collaboration – Partner with night and day operations managers, delivery, and maintenance functions to identify opportunities for improving fill rate, throughput, and cost reduction.
• Execution – Execute plans and drive results through others, identify gaps and opportunities, and find ways to improve daily workflow.
• Safety – Provide safety instruction to personnel, report all work-related injuries immediately, provide immediate medical attention to injured employees as necessary, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• Relevant bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business Management or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of direct supervisory experience within a distribution environment.
• 3+ years of operations management experience.
• Supply chain supervisory experience.
• Functional knowledge of WMS, Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work non-traditional business hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
• 20% in-state travel requirement.
• Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Preferred: warehouse automation experience.

Physical Requirements

• 9–10 hour days, five days a week, with flexibility across multiple shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50–60 pounds, depending on product characteristics.

Compensation and Benefits
