Job summary

Penske Logistics LLC in North Little Rock, AR is seeking an Operations Supervisor to provide leadership to hourly staff and ensure daily tasks such as loading/unloading, cross-docking, and customer service meet company objectives.

This role oversees scheduling, attendance, performance coaching, safety, and continuous improvement, with a focus on meeting customer goals while controlling costs. Shift runs Mon-Thu 3:30pm-2:30am; flexibility during peak season.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of related functional experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to actively listen.
• Ownership and responsibility to run the operation with urgency.
• Ability to build rapport with associates and external customers at all levels.
• Ability to manage time and organizational skills.
• Ability to drive process improvement and lead change.
• Experience with inventory management system preferred.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Establish and sustain that supervisors and associates are trained and competent and understand how their work relates to customer objectives.
• Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable.
• Interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards; provide coaching.
• Motivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition.
• Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch and documentation control.
• Conduct team meetings.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to improve productivity; assist in training new associates.
• Provide relief coverage for operational duties when staff are absent.
• Maintain knowledge of site operating systems for compliance and exception resolution.
• Complete records and reports timely and accurately.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures like inventory accuracy, returns, damages.
• Understand link between decision-making and profitability.
• Manage working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
• Support safety with training and direction; ensure compliance with regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement; meet location customer goals daily.
• Plan work assignments to use warehouse equipment effectively.
• Coordinate with hourly staff to operate equipment safely.
• Ensure equipment maintenance with vendors.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by manager.
