Job summary

Zeeland Lumber & Supply, a Division of US LBM Holdings, LLC, based in Michigan, seeks an Operations Supervisor to oversee daily activities of the Operations Coordinators and Leads in our warehouse and yard environment.

You will schedule work, coordinate deliveries, monitor safety and equipment, manage budgets and performance of 4+ associates, and ensure compliance with safety guidelines while delivering reliable customer service and cost control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1-3 years supervising workers in warehouse or lumber yard.
• Experience supervising 15–50 subordinates.
• OSHA knowledge and safety compliance.

Job description

Based in Michigan, Zeeland Lumber & Supply operates truss and wall panel component manufacturing plants along with full-service building material yards that distribute lumber and an expansive range of specialty products, such as windows, doors, roofing, cabinets, decking, and interior and exterior trim.

A Brief Overview

The Operations Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of Operations Coordinators and Leads.

What you will do

• Oversee all work activities of functional area.
• Establish work schedule and develop cost effective plan to meet store operations goals.
• Schedule and coordinate deliveries and/ or pick-ups. Coordinate this schedule with sales and shipping departments.
• Maintain equipment and machinery.
• Work to ensure a safe work environment and encourages adherence to safety guidelines.
• Prepare and verify reports as applicable.
• Monitor the safety of the work area and ensures adherence to the guidelines.
• Monitor inventory and costs of assigned area.
• Responsible for supervising a team of 4+ associates (direct and indirect reports), with responsibility for budgeting, goal setting, and performance management, including providing feedback and input on hiring and terminations.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.

Experience Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience supervising workers and work groups in a related work environment (i.e., warehouse, lumber yard, etc.) required.
• Experience supervising a workforce of 15 to 50 subordinates.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to develop, promote and maintain good customer relations.
• Must have a good understanding of OSHA requirements.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment.
• Proficiency in leadership duties including excellent professional communication skills and an ability to motivate a team in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
