The role emphasizes inventory accuracy, timely material prep, and strict adherence to procedures, PPE, and performance metrics, with cross-functional collaboration across Production, Quality, and Logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily production across the hose manufacturing process from material preparation through finished hose.
  • Assign employees to work orders and coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor production output, work in process, and order status; communicate delays and adjust priorities.
  • Coordinate changeovers and ensure mandrels, tooling, compounds, reinforcement materials, and specs are available before each run.
  • Verify hose is built to applicable work orders and specifications at each production stage.
  • Oversee mandrel preparation, extrusion, reinforcement, cover application, wrapping, curing, stripping, testing, and finishing as applicable.
  • Monitor process conditions and address defects, scrap, and rework with employees and Quality.
  • Ensure inspections, tests, and production records are completed accurately.
  • Segregate nonconforming product and work with Quality on disposition and corrective actions.
  • Train employees on equipment operation, standard work, product requirements, and safe handling practices.
  • Assign work, provide coaching and performance feedback, and develop cross-training to maintain coverage.
  • Enforce PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and other safety procedures.
  • Inspect work areas for hazards and maintain clean, organized production and material storage areas.
  • Identify equipment problems, submit maintenance requests, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor material use and availability; report shortages that could affect production.
  • Review and record production quantities, labor hours, scrap, rework, and downtime.
  • Work with Scheduling, Maintenance, Quality, the Mill Room, and Shipping to keep orders moving and meet delivery commitments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, and improve product consistency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Logistics to ensure material readiness for custom hose builds.
  • Generate and present reports on department performance, material flow, downtime, and labor utilization.
  • Participate in department planning, budgeting, and improvement initiatives.

Position Summary:

The Operations Supervisor oversees daily hose manufacturing operations, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring accurate inventory handling, timely material preparation, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The Supervisor will lead a team of operators, and to support the custom production of high-performance rubber hoses for the agriculture, aerospace, and oil and gas industries.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervisory & Leadership Duties:
Production and scheduling
  • Direct daily production across the flexible mandrel hose manufacturing process, from material preparation through finished hose.
  • Assign employees to work orders and coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor production output, work in process, and order status; communicate delays and adjust priorities as needed.

Process and quality

Requirements
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Frequent walking, standing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and chemicals in manufacturing and warehouse areas.
  • Use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots is required.
