About the Role
Tired of corporate micromanagement? Ready to take full operational ownership of a local distribution hub and light manufacturing floor?
Talent Harbor has partnered with a premier national manufacturer and distributor of high-performance architectural building materials operating a multi-state network across the U.S.
We are seeking an autonomous, hands-on Operations Supervisor to lead daily warehouse logistics, container receiving, inventory control, and light manufacturing operations at our client's facility in Honolulu, HI.
Because the Hawaii branch operates with significant operational independence from mainland corporate headquarters, you will serve as the primary tactical operational leader on-site. We are looking for a visible, floor-first supervisor who steps onto a facility layout and immediately identifies how to apply Lean/5S workflows to make warehouse logistics and light assembly safer, faster, and more efficient.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
- Own Floor Operations: Directly lead, mentor, and coach an on-site crew of 10 to 20 hourly warehouse operators, material handlers, and machinery specialists.
- Drive Island Logistics & Distribution: Oversee container freight receiving, inventory staging, stock replenishment, and local island order fulfillment.
- Optimize Space & Workflows: Apply Lean and 5S principles to maximize warehouse storage capacity, organize staging cells, and minimize scrap/material damage.
- Master Floor Metrics: Take direct accountability for key operational KPIs, including Inventory Accuracy, Order Picking Accuracy, On-Time Delivery, and Labor Utilization.
- Oversee Assets & Equipment: Supervise preventive maintenance (PM) routines and safe operational parameters for industrial forklifts, processing machinery, and cutting tools.
- Maintain Data Discipline: Drive daily material transactions in a modern cloud-based ERP system using electronic barcoding and handheld RF scanning devices.
Note: This position completely owns back-office warehousing, inventory, and light production logistics. Front-office administrative duties (customer invoicing and sales order entry) are managed separately.
What We’re Looking For
- Frontline Leadership: 3 to 5+ years of supervisory or shift-lead experience directly within an industrial warehouse, building materials distribution center, or light manufacturing environment.
- Hands-On Leadership Style: High mechanical aptitude and a full willingness to step out of the office to operate equipment, drive a forklift, or load materials alongside the team to hit tight delivery deadlines.
- ERP & RF Scanning Discipline: Experience utilizing modern ERP inventory tracking systems and handheld RF barcode scanners for daily cycle counts and stock movements.
- Process Optimization Track Record: Demonstrated ability to implement Lean/5S improvements or warehouse reorganization that left a facility cleaner, safer, and more organized.
- Physical Capability: Comfort standing/walking on a concrete floor for extended periods and ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliability & Stability: A steady employment record showcasing professional reliability and local commitment.
Why You Should Apply
- True Floor Autonomy: Run the local island operation like your own business with zero mainland micromanagement.
- Fully Paid for All Hours Worked: Strictly non-exempt hourly role. Any time worked past 40 hours in a week is paid at standard time-and-a-half ($51.00 – $63.00 / hour).
- Industry Stability: Join a premier national network operating successfully for over 50 years (since 1974).
- Direct Growth Trajectory: Step into a critical role reporting directly to the regional General Manager.
