Joining our Firm means becoming part of a team devoted to keeping families together and "Changing as Many Lives as Possible."

About the Role

The Operational Staff Attorney reviews immigration applications and related filings under close supervision and guidance from senior attorneys. The role supports clients in obtaining their documents and remaining united with their families through assigned attorney-of-record responsibilities, client communications, and emergency hearing coverage. The attorney follows approved instructions, templates, and legal strategy, completes assigned review tasks accurately and on time, and escalates non-standard legal issues to senior attorneys.

Your Key Contributions
  • Serve as attorney of record on assigned immigration records pursuant to Form G-28 for USCIS matters or Form E-28 for immigration court matters, as applicable.
  • Support development and implementation of legal strategy for assigned USCIS matters and cases pending in immigration court; obtain senior attorney direction and approval for strategy decisions and elevate non-standard issues.
  • Review draft immigration applications, responses to Requests for Evidence, appeals, and court filings in accordance with instructions from senior attorneys and approved legal guidance.
  • Evaluate assigned filings and supporting evidence for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with the case strategy; identify, track, and make necessary edits before submission.
  • Coordinate corrections and requests for additional information with appropriate team members; confirm that identified issues are resolved and required attorney review is completed before filing.
  • Speak with clients to answer questions about their cases, generally through an interpreter; explain next steps clearly and document material communications in the case record.
  • Attend master calendar hearings in immigration court only when emergency coverage is needed, with preparation and substantive guidance from senior attorneys as appropriate.
  • Meet established daily goals for attorney review tasks based on team assignments while maintaining required accuracy, legal review, and professional judgment.
  • Monitor assigned filing and hearing deadlines, prioritize work, communicate status and obstacles, and escalate risks that could affect timely completion.
  • Maintain organized case records, review notes, and documentation of legal decisions; protect confidential client information and incorporate senior attorney feedback into subsequent work.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Action Oriented – Takes timely action on assigned review tasks, follows detailed instructions, and meets established goals and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Communicates Effectively – Provides clear status updates, asks clarifying questions, and communicates respectfully with clients and colleagues, including through interpreters.
  • Being Resilient – Remains professional and focused when managing demanding workloads or changes in priorities; responds constructively to feedback and incorporates revisions promptly.
  • Strong legal analysis, research, drafting, and document review skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow detailed guidance, ask clarifying questions, incorporate edits, and recognize issues requiring senior attorney review.
  • Clear, respectful client communication through interpreters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Dropbox or comparable document management tools, and case management systems.

  • Foundational legal research, drafting, and document review skills; ability to follow detailed instructions and complete assigned tasks under close senior attorney supervision.
  • 0–1 year of post-J.D. experience; law school clinics or internships may provide relevant preparation. Prior immigration experience is not required; training will be provided.
